Bhubaneswar: A tragic accident occurred on Sunday when a tourist bus overturned at Uttara Square, resulting in the death of a Bangladeshi national and injuries to at least 15 others from the same country, according to police reports.
The victim has been identified as Nunibala Nath, whose body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
The bus, which was carrying 70 Bangladeshi tourists heading to the sacred town of Puri, fell into a pit along National Highway-16 during the early hours of the morning, as stated by a police officer.
Following the incident, the driver fled the scene.
Local residents and police worked together to rescue the injured passengers, who were then transported to Capital Hospital. Three individuals were reported to be in critical condition and were referred to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
The bus has since been removed from the accident site, and arrangements have been made to assist the remaining passengers in reaching Puri.
